Advisory
Independent MSP proposal review.
Momentus's independent MSP proposal review compares IT support proposals or renewals like for like, checks service levels, security cover, scope gaps and exit terms, and gives you a clear recommendation.
Why it helps
Quotes rarely cover the same things
One may include licences, connectivity and email filtering. Another may not. The cheaper-looking price is not always the cheaper service.
- Scope: what each proposal includes, so the quotes compare like for like.
- Service levels: response targets, updates, escalation and reporting.
- Security cover: endpoint protection, backup, monitoring and DNS.
- Scope gaps: anything removed, vague or promised without a date.
- Licence counts: billed user numbers against your actual staff.
- Efficiency: whether AI is built into the service and whether the provider will help your team work faster, not just fix faults.
- Exit terms: notice, data return, handover and price changes.
What you get
A clear recommendation
You receive a like-for-like comparison and a plain recommendation, with the questions to put to each provider before you sign.
Sometimes the right call is to renew with your current provider, ideally with better terms. We say so when it is.
Independent and read-only. Nothing changes until you decide.
FAQ
Questions to ask any IT support provider before you sign
What are the service levels?
Ask for response targets by priority, how often you will get progress updates, and who you escalate to if a target is missed. Check they are written into the agreement, not just the sales document.
What exactly is included, and what isn't?
Ask for one page that lists what the monthly fee covers. Check Microsoft 365 licences, connectivity, email archiving and spam filtering, projects and out-of-hours cover, so two quotes can be compared like for like.
What security and backup cover is included?
Ask who provides endpoint protection, server and Microsoft 365 backup, monitoring and DNS filtering, and how often restores are tested. If something is not in the price, ask what covers it instead.
How are licence counts worked out?
Ask how many users each line is billed for, and how often the figures are checked against your actual staff. Different lines billed for different numbers is a sign nobody is reconciling.
Do promised projects have dates?
Ask for a deliverable and a date for every project that is included, such as device builds, server retirement or Cyber Essentials support. Without both, it is an intention, not a commitment.
How will you help us work more efficiently?
Ask whether AI is part of the service or sold as an extra, and whether anyone reviews how your team works and where time is lost. Good support also improves productivity, with measurable goals you can review.
What reporting and reviews do we get?
Ask for a sample monthly report and how often you meet to review service, risks and spend. A regular review is where scope changes should be raised.
What happens if we leave?
Ask about the notice period, any minimum term, how your data and documentation are returned and by when, and who holds the admin accounts.
How are price changes handled?
Ask whether prices can rise during the term, by how much and with what notice. Also ask whether a longer term is the price of a discount or of extras, and what you would lose by choosing a shorter one.
